I'm typing in the "Wii Room" which is called that because it, obviously, contains the Wii. It's where my brother wins an amazing amount of monster truck races, my sister uses too many minutes on her phone, and where I digest piles of books.
There's notebooks, cups, empty popcorn bags, bowls, lazy cats, drumsticks, shoes, dvds, pens, ect. There's a battered old desk where the computer sits, an ugly couch that somehow fits with the room, an a monkey hangs from the ceiling.
Right now the chilly wind blows through the front door, and rain is pouring down. It's my favorite type of weather. Many people think storms and various dark, rainy types of weather are evil omens. But I like it- the shiver the cold ignites, the gusts of wind and pelets of rain. It always ignites new ideas for me, always is the perfect weather for a story.
Stories.....
I remember when I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. I read Matilda. I remember always trying to move things with my mind, but failing stupendously.
Harry Potter was the first series of books that got me to be the reading fanatic I am now. I've read each maybe 4 times? I don't know....but whenever i do i start using spells like "Lumos" to turn on the light, and using a british accent. Books do change lives.
Whenever i read a really, truly, good book, it changes me a little. It makes me stay up at night thinking about it, wondering what could happen next.
I want to sail the skies like Matt Cruse and Kate Devries.
I want to ride a dragon like Eragon, or get stuck on a deserted land and have to survive with my own wits like Brian.
The things you really learn about life is in life itself, or books. School teaches you the basics, but imagination will take you much further. Please read. And not just one book.
